The Opportunity

Landholder partnerships has been identified as a key priority area for Greening Australia to meet our ambitious 2030 goals for climate action, land restoration and biodiversity. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute towards the achievement of our 2030 goals and beyond with your experience in carbon/environmental markets to secure contracts with landholder partners to deliver environmental restoration projects (with a strong focus on carbon) throughout Australia.

Key Position Accountabilities

Key areas of accountability and outcomes include:

• Negotiate viable contracts with landholder partners for project delivery.
• Advise and guide current and potential clients in respect to carbon markets and contractual obligations within the constraints of an Australian Financial Services Licence (AFSL).
• Public presentations and representation at relevant conferences and workshops.
• Maintain and improve standard processes, templates and procedures for landholder engagement.
• Ensuring adherence to Australian Financial Services Licence requirements and to the Australian Carbon Industry Code of Conduct.

Key Selection Criteria

• An understanding of Australian farming systems and how trees can be integrated with them.
• Experience in carbon or environmental markets in Australian / international jurisdictions.
• Excellent interpersonal and public communication skills.
• Demonstrated landholder networks and relationships in regional Australia.
• Demonstrated competence in commercial negotiations and in maintaining commercial relationships.
• An understanding of the requirements and operations of Australian Financial Services Licence (AFSL).
• An understanding of GA's core mission of landscape rehabilitation and the place of carbon in assisting that mission.
• Ability to travel for work within Australia to undertake landholder negotiations or assist property assessments.

Desirable Criteria

• Project development experience with Australia's carbon markets particularly relating to the production of ACCUs (full life cycle) and environmental planting projects.
• Established relationships and networks within Australia's carbon industry (Clean Energy Regulator, Carbon Market Institute, auditors, project developers, clients, major land managers, etc).
• Degree in environmental management / science or related discipline.
• Previous experience as an authorised representative of an AFSL.
