Cardno is currently seeking highly motivated and passionate Contaminated Team Leader to join our Contaminated Land team in Geelong. Cardno currently operates Victorian offices in Melbourne CBD, Geelong and Ballarat and we have also embraced ‘Work Your Way’, which enables flexible working tailored to your individual circumstance through an environment of empowerment and trust. We presently service our Geelong contaminated land projects from the Melbourne office and are after a high powered and motivated person to develop a local Geelong based offering.

Primary Objective:

  • Develop a contaminated land consultancy service based out of our existing Geelong office
  • To lead the overall performance of the Geelong team in terms of people, technical leadership, business development, project and operational management.
  • To promote cooperation and cross-selling across all Australian business units through the general sharing of information, support, resourcing for projects in the interests of the overall good of the company.
  • Provide support to Practice Leads and each member in their team to grow and be engaged, according to their PDP and goals, giving ongoing feeback and mentoring to ensure successful outcomes in relation to team development and retention.

Specifically, your duties will include –

  • Project Manage contaminated land related projects and teams to ensure work output is of a technically high standard and activities are commercially viable for the business.
  • Undertake day-to-day supervision of both professional and non-professional staff working on projects.
  • Plan resource needs in consultation with management, team leaders and project managers working within the Business Unit 
  • Cultivate and grow a technical team that designs and delivers positive client experience through the quality and timeliness of project deliverables 
  • Supports the BD Leader in opportunities and pursuits, and ensure adequate proposal/ project resourcing  
  • Scope and design of contaminated land and groundwater investigations
  • Preparing proposals, reports and management plans within given timeframes
  • Participate in long and short term planning for the Business Unit.
  • Develop strong working relationships with new and existing clients

About you

To be successful you will display – 

  • Degree level qualifications in Environmental Science/Engineering, Geology, Hydrogeology, Environmental Chemistry or related field
  • Demonstrated 8+ years’ experience within the field of contaminated land assessment and/or environmental assessment and approvals 
  • Demonstrated skills in project management is essential
  • Demonstrated experience in running a team or developing a service offering
  • Strong analytical, reporting and verbal communication skills
  • A client service focus with strong interpersonal skills and an ability to work effectively in team environments.
