About the Role 

We have exceptional opportunities for passionate and motivated planners to join our Hardwoods Plantation team as we embark on an expanded plantation establishment program on the North Coast.

These critical roles will be involved in all facets of plantation operations, contractor management and safety management. The successful candidates will be involved in a diverse program of works across plantation establishments from preparing operational plans, including harvest, road, post -harvest burning and associated site-safety, while incorporating fundamental environmental impact assessments. An understanding of weed control and chemical handling is advantageous.

We have a permanent planner position in Grafton, a 3 year contract in Wauchope and a 12 month option in Casino.

About You

To be successful in this role you will be able to demonstrate the following skills and experience;

  • Tertiary qualifications in environmental sciences, agriculture and /or demonstrated experience and knowledge of forest management practices;
  • An understanding of native forest and plantation silviculture and an understanding of other relevant areas of forest management including, roading, harvesting and fire management is ideal;
  • Knowledge and skills in the use of technologies and systems relevant to operations planning, including GIS and ArcMap or willingness to learn;
  • Good interpersonal, oral and written communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team;
  • Ability to plan and prioritise work, meet standards and deadlines;
  • Well-developed analytical and problem-solving skills;
  • Knowledge and understanding of relevant legislation, regulatory requirements and best-practice methodologies;
  • Current valid Driver’s Licence;
  • Ability and fitness to undertake forest firefighting and meet required fitness levels for the role.
