About the branch

The Regional Services Division is responsible for the service delivery of initiatives, programs and services. On-ground works and services will conserve environments, protect culture and heritage, manage visitor facilities and improve opportunities and support fire and emergency management. The Regional resources will support environmental, social and economic outcomes for rural, regional and urban communities

About the role

As the Planning Officer (Fire Ecology and Emergency), you will be responsible for the coordination and management of the fire ecology function within the region, including providing ecological input and other support across the planning, response and recovery phases of the fire and emergency program

The position will include the delivery of planning, project, financial and resource management (human resources, facilities, assets, systems and staff training and development) in accordance with Parks Victoria’s policies, procedures and objectives.

You will be responsible for coordinating a function that is adaptable, flexible and responsive to community needs and key stakeholder expectations. 

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Develop functional plans and measures, to assess and improve individual and branch performance.
  • Plan and support the implementation of the Regional Action Plan specifically related to the fire ecology and emergency function.
  • Ensure that activities are conducted in a safe manner that ensures staff and public safety. Report progress against planned activities including tracking implementation and expenditure of planned works.
  • Assist District Managers with information and advice on the cascade of accountabilities and deliverables.

To be successful for this role you need:

  • Tertiary qualification in Environmental Science, Business and/or equivalent experience in a similar field is desirable.
  • Demonstrated experience in analytical problem solving.
  • Previous Stakeholder management experience required.
  • Demonstrated experience in provision on expert and technical advice and support.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively deliver on goals and objectives.
