Our core reason for being is to advocate on behalf of industry. In addition, we also provide members with practical services such as workplace relations support and news and information. While Growcom is a Queensland-based organisation we deliver national-scale projects and policy initiatives.

About The Opportunity / Role

As Growcom’s Resilience Officer you will work across two key projects currently being delivered by Growcom. In this role you will:

  • Support the delivery of the National Non-Packaging Agricultural Plastics Stewardship Scheme. This may occasionally include supporting delivery of this program outside the Southern Queensland region.
  • Support and deliver the Farm Business Resilience Program within South Queensland as part of the project team. The Farm Business Resilience Program (FBRP) provides information and training to improve drought preparedness, including a Farm Business Resilience Plan.
  • Play an important role within Growcom’s project team in the implementation of Growcom’s Hort360 program and delivery of key projects and training initiatives.
  • Work closely with agricultural industry stakeholders, service providers, Growcom staff, Growcom members and horticultural producers in the region, as well as across Queensland through the provision of online learning for farm business resilience.

About You

The suitable applicant will ideally have extension experience, working with the production horticulture or agriculture industries. With experience of online learning design and facilitation, business management, natural resource management, and knowledge of horticulture industry plastics use and management. Your stakeholder engagement, online and group facilitation experience and ability to assist growers to implement improvements will be ideal for this position.

A tertiary qualification in a relevant field (Business, Ag Science, Environmental Management etc) would be favourable.

If you are a good communicator, practical and highly motivated with a genuine interest in best practice management and resilience this job will be ideal.

Mandatory requirements

  • A current C class manual driver’s licence – with some travel involved in the position, including occasional nights away from home.
  • Extension experience, including online learning.
  • Use of Microsoft office products.
