Macquarie University is offering two micrcredentials, taught as an intensive, block-mode units. Both units are co-taught with an advanced undergraduate class. Your teacher is Professor Kirstie Fryirs.
Study each course separately (6 or 7 days) or together as one block (12 days - *fieldtrip overlaps).
MQMC0000 - Geomorphic analysis of rivers (6 days - After 1st Nov 2025 online, then 5th-10th Jan 2026 starting at MQ then in the field*)
A- pre-recorded online introductory tutorial and pre-course private study is followed by 4 days of on-campus sessions at Macquarie University (MQ), Sydney. Students then apply their skills and knowledge to geomorphic analysis of rivers in a real-world setting during a 2-day off-campus fieldtrip, which leads into MQMC0001. You will learn about:
MQMC0001 - Use of geomorphology in river management (7 days - After 1st Nov 2025 online, then 10th-16th Jan 2026 starting in field* then at MQ)
A pre-recorded online introductory tutorial is followed by a 3-day off-campus fieldtrip to explore forms and processes of rivers, as well as pressing challenges for their conservation and management. This is followed by 4 days of on-campus sessions at Macquarie University (MQ). This unit is best undertaken with MQMC0000 that provides pre-requisite knowledge on geomorphic analysis of rivers. You will learn about:
Cost: $2,200 per unit (inc. GST).
Closing date: Enrolments close on 1st December 2025 unless filled prior.
Quota: Numbers are capped at 10 per microcredential unit.
