About the Role:

This position is an on-ground and physically demanding role, day to day duties involve a healthy mix of revegetation plantings and assisted regeneration through various methods of weed control such as herbicide application and manual weed work, erosion control, small machinery use (including maintenance), and revegetation work.  The successful candidate must be physically fit, motivated and capable of consistently and reliably working in challenging outdoor environments.

  • Use and maintain tools, equipment and workshop

Essential for the Role

  • Manual Drivers Licence and reliable transport to and from the workshop
  • Passion for the environment and conservation
  • Some plant knowledge linked to the Conservation Industry
  • Willingness to undertake required training to obtain licenses necessary for the role
  • Physically fit  
  • Flexibility, reliability, an excellent work ethic and strong attention to detail
  • Good communicator, effective at working independently and as part of a team 

Desirable for the Role

  • Chainsaw license
  • Pest technician license
  • Qualifications in Plant Identification
  • TAFE Qualifications in Conservation and Ecosystem Management or similar
  • Previous work experience in conservation/horticulture either paid or volunteer-based

The position will initially be offered on a casual basis with a view to permanency for the right candidate.  We are looking for staff to work approx. 30-35 hour weeks over a five day period.
