The Role

We're looking for a talented Senior Aquatic Scientist to join our Brisbane team - someone who can move comfortably between field boots and technical reports, and between ecology, ecotoxicology, and water quality. This is a dual-purpose role that bridges our Ecology & Biodiversity Management and Environmental Risk Assessment teams. Your exact focus will reflect your strengths - we want the scientist, not just the skillset. You'll lead projects, mentor junior scientists, engage clients, and contribute to business development - all within a small, genuinely collaborative team that works across Australia, PNG, SE Asia, and beyond.

What You'll Do

• Lead and deliver complex aquatic science projects from field to final report.
• Apply your expertise across ecology, ecotoxicology, and/or water quality - or all three.
• Provide technical and strategic advice to clients, regulators, and stakeholders.
• Design and lead field sampling programs, including in remote and international locations.
• Mentor and supervise junior staff, building team capability.
• Contribute to proposals, tenders, and business development.
• Ensure HSE standards and quality management are embedded in every project.

What We're Looking For

We're flexible on your exact specialty - what matters is depth, not breadth. You might be an ecologist, an ecotoxicologist, a water quality scientist, or someone who spans all three. Here's what we need:

• Degree in Life Sciences, Environmental Science, Ecology, Ecotoxicology, or Environmental Chemistry (Honours or postgraduate preferred).
• Minimum 5-8 years' experience, with at least 2-3 years in environmental consulting.
• Strong project management, client communication, field, and writing skills.
• Leadership experience or a clear drive to lead and develop others.
• A current Driver's Licence and a right to live and work in Australia.
