This ongoing position is an excellent opportunity for a senior-career scientist to implement terrestrial ecosystem monitoring, research and assessment projects across the Northern Territory of Australia. 

The position is located in Darwin with the Flora and Fauna Division, which has primary responsibility for the provision of technical and policy advice on terrestrial and aquatic biodiversity conservation management in the Northern Territory. Key duties of the role include:

  1. Manage the operation of the Ecosystem Management Branch to deliver outcomes aligned to the Department's and Government’s strategic priorities, with particular emphasis on overseeing the Darwin Harbour and freshwater ecology programs.
  2. Work collaboratively within the Flora and Fauna Division leadership team to support the strategic direction of the Division.
  3. Manage allocation of Division resources into ecosystem assessment, monitoring and applied research to address strategic knowledge gaps and inform evidence-based decision-making.
  4. Contribute to the development and implementation of robust methods and systems to monitor and report on the health of the Northern Territory’s ecosystems in priority locations and thematic areas.
