About the Role

Join TAFE Gippsland’s Animal Sciences team and help prepare students for careers in laboratory and technical science environments. Based at our Yallourn campus, you will deliver engaging, hands-on training aligned to the Certificate III in Laboratory Skills, supporting students to develop practical competencies used across animal sciences, environment, agriculture, research, and related industries.

You will facilitate applied learning in laboratory settings, guiding students through essential techniques such as sample preparation, laboratory safety, data recording, and quality control. Through practical sessions and collaborative learning, you’ll help students build confidence and industry-ready skills for entry-level laboratory technician roles.

About You

The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering high-quality, practical training in laboratory skills within an animal sciences context. You will bring relevant industry laboratory experience and the ability to translate this into engaging, hands-on learning experiences that reflect real-world laboratory environments.

You will have experience working in laboratory, research, animal sciences, or related settings, with a strong understanding of standard laboratory procedures and safety practices. Your ability to support students in developing technical skills, following structured processes, and working accurately in both lab and field-based contexts will be essential.

Qualifications and experience

  • Certificate IV in Training & Assessment (TAE40122 or equivalent) or willingness to complete with support and mentoring
  • Minimum Certificate III in Animal Studies or Companion Animal Services or equivalent in animal husbandry related studies.
  • Relevant practical experience in a Science Laboratory setting, across any industry or educational setting (Laboratory Technician).
