About the Role

Seeking applications for an experienced media and communications specialist and who can develop and implement strategic multi-channel media and communications campaigns to raise awareness of Landcare Australia's brands, partnerships, projects and impact.

Strategy and Events

  • The development and management of impactful communications and media campaigns that are aligned with Landcare Australia's Strategic Plan. Activities include development and management of a project plan, communications plan, media plan, communications content plan, media relations outreach and campaign reporting.
  • Develop and manage communications and media relations activities for corporate, philanthropic and government partnerships.
  • Provide event management support.
  • Manage the delivery of activities to a timeline, budget and campaign KPIs.

Media Specialist

  • Develop communications and news media strategies to reaching both new and existing audiences.
  • Understanding of the media landscape and industry trends.
  • Lead the development and implementation of significant media campaigns including Landcare Week, the National Landcare Conference, and the Landcare Awards program.
  • Prepare media briefing packs for company media spokespeople including media training, key messages, media release, biography, background information documents and speech notes for events.
  • Experience in crisis communications.
  • Responsible for proactive and responsive positive media relations, ensuring relationships with key media stakeholders are created and maintained.

Communications

  • Create content for Landcare Australia's Landcare in Focus magazine, Annual Report and other publications, newsletters, websites and social media.
  • Research, write and edit topical and relevant articles and case studies to be published in media and Landcare Australia's communications channels.
  • Prepare briefs for promotional videos and photography for suppliers.
  • Other duties to support the Marketing and Communications team as required.

Skills and Experience

Proactive communications and media relations professional with a minimum five years' experience, and with tertiary qualifications in public relations, media or communications.

Essential

  • Experience managing multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to professionally manage communications, media and stakeholder engagement.
  • Experience developing and implementing multi-channel marketing, media and communications campaigns.
  • Analytical and conceptual skills to effectively manage reputational risks and issues, problem solving and implement innovative solutions.
  • Competency in a wide range of communications tools including developing media releases, media pitches, media briefs, articles, case studies, presentations and social media content.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills including proven ability to create and write clear, engaging and inspiring content.
  • Commitment to delivering high-quality outcomes and seek ways to improve communications, media and stakeholder engagement services and advice.
  • Understanding of the Australian media landscape at a national, regional and local level.
  • Ability to deal effectively with requests and enquiries from a variety of stakeholders from the landcare community across Australia.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement skills to work with internal and external stakeholders.
