About the Role
As Senior Offsets Consultant, you will lead biodiversity offset projects and play a pivotal role in shaping conservation outcomes across NSW. This role requires strong project management capabilities and a deep understanding of the NSW Biodiversity Offsets Scheme. The ideal candidate will also bring working knowledge of GIS and ecological survey methodologies, or a willingness to further develop in these areas.
You'll work alongside our experienced GIS analysts, biodiversity offset specialists and ecologists to deliver practical, science-based solutions that ensure compliance and add value to clients and the environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage biodiversity offset assessments, including BAM, BARs, and stewardship site establishment.
- Consult with clients and regulatory stakeholders on offset strategies and compliance pathways.
- Oversee project delivery, ensuring timelines, budgets, and quality expectations are met.
- Collaborate with GIS teams to produce spatial analyses and mapping associated with biodiversity offset assessments.
- Mentor junior team members and contribute to the strategic development of our Offsets practice.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant legislation and policy changes.
Essential Criteria
- Degree in Environmental Science, Ecology, Natural Resource Management, or a related field.
- 5 - 10 years' experience in biodiversity assessment, offset delivery, or related fields.
- Detailed understanding of the NSW Biodiversity Offsets Scheme and BAM process.
- Strong project management and client engagement skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication, with experience producing technical reports.
- Capacity to work independently and within a multidisciplinary team.

Desirable Skills
- Working knowledge of the Esri GIS suite (ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online, Field Maps).
- Experience with mobile data collection, data management, or spatial analysis for ecology.
- Background in ecological fieldwork, field data collation or ecological report writing.
- Familiarity with NSW Biodiversity Credit Registers and credit trading.
- Advanced Excel or database capability.
