The Gulbali Institute is offering exclusive PhD scholarships for First Nations scholars to lead research on Country, focusing on environmental water, fire, and shared landscapes. This is a unique opportunity to shape policy, protect biodiversity, and strengthen cultural knowledge while being supported by a leading research institute.

Projects include:

• The Role of Environmental Water in Human Wellbeing - Investigate how water management impacts culture, biodiversity, and community in the mid and lower Murrumbidgee.
• Using Fire to Promote Biodiversity - Explore how cultural burning and fire ecology can support conservation in southeastern Australia.
• Shared Water Landscapes - Examine water use, rights, and sustainability with a focus on cultural and ecological values.

Successful candidates will receive:

• A tax-free scholarship package of up to $50,000 per year for up to four years including relocation and operating
• Research support and access to expert mentorship
