Ecology Australia has been providing ecological consultancy services to the public and private sector throughout south-eastern Australia since 1978. We are one of the most highly regarded and longest-running ecological consultancies in Victoria, with a reputation for delivering high quality work with integrity and professionalism. We have a strong focus on scientific principles and objectivity, and often bridge the gap between consultancy and applied research. Our team consists of experienced and dedicated ecologists and GIS analysts who work with clients to achieve ethical and positive environmental outcomes.

As part of our GIS team, you will have the opportunity to contribute to our diverse and interesting range of projects and services, including:

  • Mapping ecological values and threats
  • Applied ecological research
  • Ecological monitoring projects
  • Flora and fauna surveys
  • Biodiversity strategies and conservation management plans
  • Threatened species and pest animal management plans
  • Environmental impact assessments

As the successful candidate, you will assist with analysing data and developing spatial solutions to issues, presenting results as cartographic maps, statistics and/or databases, and managing spatial datasets.

Selection Criteria:

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in Geographic Information Systems or a related area
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in the use of GIS applications, including products from ESRI, in an ecology-related field. Experience with ArcGIS Pro, Online and Field Maps is highly desirable
  • Proficiency with the use of computers and other software for data analyses and report compilation
  • The ability to work in a team environment

The salary package is negotiable and will be dependent on experience.
