MRA Environmental (MRA) is a long established and respected environmental consulting business located in Robina, the heart of the Gold Coast. MRA provides opportunities to work on a wide range of interesting and dynamic environmental projects across both the private and public sectors. We are currently seeking a Senior Environmental Scientist/Ecologist with eight years or more experience to join our expanding consultancy team.
The successful applicant will be enthusiastic, self-motivated and adaptable, and have an appetite for learning. MRA offers a collaborative work environment with a team of scientists and environmental managers. The position is fulltime, and the role will provide technical support to the Principal Environmental Scientist as well as providing assistance to our environmental monitoring team. As such the position will be a mix of field work, report writing and liaison with clients and regulatory authorities. This employment is offered as a supporting role initially with future opportunities for broader consulting duties and a management role.

The Position
- Support the Principal Environmental Scientist working on ecological, environmental management and environmental monitoring projects.
- Manage environmental projects from preparing proposals through to the delivery of technical reports.
- Prepare technical reports and management plans that meet regulatory requirements, as well as community expectations.
- Prepare and conduct ecological field surveys with the support of existing scientists and undertake environmental monitoring when required to assist our monitoring team.
- Interpret environmental monitoring data and provide support to our clients on compliance matters.
- Engage with clients to establish relationships and ensure client satisfaction.
Your qualifications, skills and experience:
To be considered for this position you will need to have the following:
- Tertiary qualifications from a recognised institution, in environmental science or related discipline.
- Ability to manage projects and build/maintain relationships with clients.
- Proven experience in the interpretation of environmental legislation.
- Proven experience in environmental monitoring including water and soil sampling techniques, data collection and interpretation.
- Proven experience in the participation of ecological surveys.
- Highly experienced in technical data assessment and scientific report writing.
- A minimum of 8 years experience in an environmental consulting role.
- Experience in writing proposals and winning new projects.
- A willingness to expand your knowledge and familiarise yourself with MRA Clients and their needs.
- Proven leadership skills, self-motivation and enthusiasm to make a positive contribution to the MRA team.
- Current class C driver licence (manual).
- Ability to work outdoors. A work fitness assessment will be required on commencement.

- Membership of a relevant professional body.
