Located in the heart of Walyalup (Fremantle), Ecoscape offers a friendly, personal atmosphere with the opportunity to work on a wide range of projects across Western Australia.

Ecoscape is seeking a Senior Botanist with four or more years' experience to join our growing team. The successful candidate will be personable, self-motivated, and adaptable. The successful applicant will enjoy a collaborative work environment within our team of zoologists, botanists, and ecologists, as well as working with our Directors, Principals and clients.

This role will provide technical botanical services in Western Australia to established and new clients including mining, government, infrastructure and energy. It is a role which includes a variety of tasks such as developing fee proposals for new projects, client liaison, technical report writing, project management, field work including leading survey teams in remote areas, mentoring junior botanists and ecologists, servicing key clients and working collaboratively with other teams within the company and externally, and with regulatory authorities.

The 'ideal' candidate will have:

  • 4 - 8+ years' experience including previous environmental consultancy experience.
  • Previous relevant technical experience undertaking botanical surveys in Western Australia.
  • Experience in leading detailed and reconnaissance flora surveys including targeted surveys for conservation significant flora.
  • Understanding of relevant WA and Commonwealth legislation and guidelines.
  • Understanding of flora licencing requirements.
  • Strong technical report writing and project management skills.
  • Experience in preparation of detailed biological reports for environmental impact assessment and compliance.
  • Ability to work independently or collaboratively.
  • Desire and ability to mentor and support junior consultants in collaboration with the other Principals.
  • Ability to work flexible hours and undertake field surveys in remote areas for extended periods.
  • Good emotional intelligence and interpersonal skills including a positive attitude and the ability to fit in well with a team of friendly professionals.

Essential requirements:

  • Tertiary degree in botany, ecology, conservation biology, environmental science or similar.
  • Current manual Western Australian Driver's License.

Desirable skills:

  • Experience working in mining, heavy industry or infrastructure-related projects.
  • Pilbara flora experience.
  • GIS skills - ArcGIS / QGIS.
  • Vegetation health monitoring experience.
  • Flora identification experience.
  • Data analysis skills in R.
  • Qualifications in 'Provide First Aid' and remote area four-wheel driving.
