Redland Coast is home to more than 1,400 conservation areas, parks, and reserves, offering incredible opportunities for nature-based recreation. From bushwalking and mountain biking to horse riding and heritage sightseeing, our parks provide a space for the community to connect with nature. The Parks and Conservation Unit oversees the maintenance of Redland's open space, conservation areas and trees.
As a Parks and Conservation Project Officer, you will play a key role in establishing and managing volunteer programs that enhance and protect these valuable natural assets. You will engage with the community, recruit and manage volunteers, and collaborate with community groups to foster sustainable conservation initiatives. You will also be involved in business improvement projects to support parks and conservation operations.
Key Responsibilities:

- Program Development & Management: Establish, implement, and oversee park care and trail care volunteer programs, ensuring they align with best practices in park and environmental management.
- Volunteer Engagement & Coordination: Recruit, train, and manage volunteers to support park care and trail care programs.
- Community Engagement: Liaise with local community groups, stakeholders, and residents to foster partnerships and encourage participation in open space and conservation management efforts.
- Project Support: Work across the unit on a variety of business improvement projects, supporting the Principal Adviser in delivering key initiatives.
- Long-Term Conservation Planning: Contribute to strategic planning and the development of programs that enhance the sustainability of Redland Coast's parks and conservation areas.

- Strong project management skills, particularly in setting up and managing programs.
- The ability to build relationships with community groups, volunteers, and stakeholders.
- Knowledge of environmental conservation principles and park management.

Eligibility
- You'll have the ability to participate in the after-hours on-call roster, including remote response and site-related operations over weekends and public holidays on a rostered basis.
