Redland Coast is home to an extensive network of tracks and trails, including fire trails and single tracks that support fire management and a range of recreational activities. These trails play a vital role in connecting our community with nature.

As a Tracks and Trails Management Officer, you will be responsible for overseeing the inspection, maintenance, and management of our trail network. You will work closely with contractors, trail care groups, and volunteers to ensure Redland Coast's tracks and trails are maintained efficiently, safely, and sustainably in line with service level agreements and budget requirements.

You will work in the Parks and Conservation Unit that oversees the maintenance of Redland's open space, conservation areas and trees. Within the unit, the conservation team undertakes the strategic management of conservation areas to protect biodiversity including rehabilitation, revegetation, as well as vegetation, fire and recreation management.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Trail Maintenance & Inspections: Oversee all track and trail maintenance and inspections, including fire trails and single tracks, ensuring safety and functionality.
  • Trail Care & Volunteer Coordination: Support and manage trail care programs, engaging with volunteers and community groups to foster sustainable trail management.
  • Proactive Asset Management: Take a strategic and proactive approach to maintaining and enhancing Redland Coast's trail network.
  • Contractor & Stakeholder Engagement: Work closely with contractors, community groups, and internal teams to ensure timely and effective maintenance in line with budget limitations.
  • Fire & Recreation Management: Ensure trails are maintained to support both recreational use and fire management requirements.

What you'll bring:

We're looking for a highly motivated and practical professional with experience in trail management, asset maintenance, or environmental management. We would love to hear from you or someone you know who:

  • Experience in track and trail maintenance, including fire trails and single tracks.
  • Strong project coordination and contractor management skills.
  • Experience in volunteer coordination and community engagement.
  • Knowledge of fire management principles in relation to tracks and trails.
  • A proactive and solutions-focused approach to managing trail networks.

Eligibility

  • You'll have the ability to participate in the after-hours on-call roster, including remote response and site-related operations over weekends and public holidays on a rostered basis.
