Join us at the Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water (DCCEEW) as a Program Officer, where you will play a pivotal role in helping advance science programs to address environmental challenges using our high-performance computing and storage infrastructure.

About the role

We are currently seeking to appoint a Program Officer to join our Science High Performance Computing team. The team runs a high-performance computing and storage facility known as Science Data and Compute (SDC) to store, manage, and process large scale data collections. It plays an important role in providing an evidence base to the NSW government for environmental data-driven decision making.

You will be responsible for managing various aspects of planning and execution of a range of activities for the SDC program of work. This includes procurement, strategic planning, comms and outreach along with typical project work and administrative functions. You will work closely with current and future SDC users from the Science division to understand various use cases and work with the technical team to meet their needs.

This role will:

  • Manage a range of activities for the SDC program as required e.g. procurement, reporting, evaluation, risk management, contract management, asset management etc.
  • Work collaboratively with the technical support team and user groups to improve customer experience and engage in outreach and promotion activities.
  • Provide a range of secretariat and administrative services to support program governance, including coordinating committees, working groups and project board meetings.

About You

Key knowledge and experience:

  • Knowledge and administrative/project support experience with science or R&D programs dealing with large-scale science data.
  • Experience in coordinating projects, monitoring and evaluation, supporting governance and functions like procurement, risk and asset management, ideally in a government or R&D organization.
