About the role
Reporting to the Natural Areas Team Leader, this role will see you provide technical advice and assist in the management of natural areas with particular emphasis on waterway, catchment and sustainable water management.
Your duties will include, but are not limited to:
- Develop and implement water and catchment management plans and policies.
- Provide technical information, advice, and training on riparian, catchment, WSUD, and flood management.
- Assist in Council's planning processes, including Local Environment Plans and Development Control Plans.
- Conduct research and testing for waterway and catchment health, and report on outcomes.
- Monitor and test Council's stormwater harvesting reuse projects and water treatment devices.
- Manage catchment management projects and budgets.
- Coordinate Council's Flood Risk Management Committee and Flood Risk Management Plan process.
Qualifications, Skills & Experience
- Tertiary qualifications and / or extensive experience in a relevant discipline (natural systems, catchment management or water management).
- Current Class C Driver's Licence.
- Experience providing high level technical advice on natural area management (catchment management, water management, flooding and contaminated lands).
- Experience in the development, implementation and review of strategies and policies.
- Ability to build strong working relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.
- Knowledge of relevant local government, environmental and planning legislation (State and Commonwealth).
- Competent in the use of MS Office programs, GIS and database software.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and as part of a team.
- Excellent organisational and time management skills.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal and conflict resolution skills.
