About the Role

As a Nursery Leading Hand, you will play a key role in overseeing the daily operations of our nursery. You will work closely with the Production Manager & Nursery General Manager, supervising a team of nursery staff to ensure the efficient and effective production and maintenance of plants. This role offers an excellent opportunity to showcase your leadership skills and contribute to our commitment to excellence.

Employment Type: Full-Time
Salary: $73,000.00 - $80,200.00 per annum + 17.5% leave loading + 11.5% superannuation + TIL system
Work Hours: 38 hours per week.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and supervise a team of nursery workers to achieve production targets.
  • Coordinate daily tasks such as potting, propagation, watering, picking of orders and general nursery maintenance.
  • Monitor plant health, including pest and disease management.
  • Ensure adherence to safety protocols and workplace policies.
  • Provide on-the-job training and mentoring for team members.
  • Assist with inventory management and stock control.
  • Operate and maintain nursery equipment and tools.
  • Communicate with the Production Manager & Nursery General Manager to plan and prioritise tasks.

About You:

  • Proven experience in a nursery, horticulture, or related field.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Practical knowledge of plant care, propagation, and pest management.
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to operate machinery and tools safely.
  • A commitment to safety and quality.
  • Relevant qualifications in horticulture (preferred but not essential).
