The Role

The Bushland and Bushcare Officer is responsible for managing and implementing Urban Ecology programs in three key areas:

• Remnant Vegetation Management - working to progress towards EAP targets.
• Bushcare Volunteer Program - Managing an active, effective and engaging Bushcare volunteer program that improves remnant vegetation and native habitat across Waverley LGA.
• Bioscecurity - ensure that Council and residents comply with the NSW Biosecurity Act 2015, with delegations under this Act.

About You

• Previous experience in supervising bush regeneration contractors and Bushcare volunteers.
• Demonstrated understanding of bush regeneration and natural resource management in a local government context.
• Knowledge of vegetation and ecosystems in coastal and urban environments.
• A working knowledge of relevant legislation, including the NSW Biosecurity Act 2015.
• Excellent time management skills, and experience in administering procurement, supplier performance, risks and variations.
• Demonstrated project management skills including scoping, scheduling, risk and financial management.
• Practical experience with risk and safety associated with bush regeneration and volunteer activities.
