Casual Revegetation Field Technician

Succession Ecology provides a broad range of services in landscape scale restoration, native seed supply, weed management and ecological consulting. We specialise in large-scale management and restoration of arid systems and the production and sale of native seed. Our focus is on finding unique solutions in nature and applying new and innovative techniques to ecosystem management, which sets us apart in the environment industry.

We are seeking an Environmental practitioner to join our Revegetation Field team. This team works across a broad range of projects including weed control, seed collecting, planting and direct seeding. The position will involve field work in locations throughout South Australia and seed cleaning based at our Edwardstown workshop. The ideal candidate will be a hardworking and adaptable person with an enthusiasm for learning, innovation and being actively involved in making a difference in our unique environment.

Position:

You will need:

  • A Cert III Conservation and Ecosystem Management, Horticulture or Tertiary qualification in Environmental Science or equivalent.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team of professionals.
  • Ability to travel intrastate and work away for multiple days at a time.
  • C class driver's licence.
  • Physical fitness and the ability to work long hours outdoors in all conditions.
  • Knowledge and understanding of WHS regulations, policies, and procedures.

Beneficial attributes include:

  • Some experience in the environment industry would be advantageous. This could include:
    • Planting.
    • Seed collecting.
    • Native plant and weed identification.
    • Direct Seeding.
    • Weed control methods.
    • Pesticide use.
    • Use of a range of equipment including brushcutter, auger, pottiputki, mower, chainsaw etc.
    • Bush Care.
    • Four-Wheel Drive Experience would be advantageous.
    • Ability to drive a manual vehicle.
    • Confidence in towing trailers or a willingness to undertake training.
    • ChemCert.
    • First Aid and White card accreditation.
    • Pest Control Technicians Licence.
    • A very good sense of humour.
