The Opportunity

We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Biosecurity Advisor, Weeds to be part of our Biosecurity Division within PIRSA.

This position takes a lead role in influencing natural resource management outcomes in South Australia, through the development of professional, technical, policy and planning advice, to identify and manage the impacts of invasive weeds.

The role is also responsible for developing and delivering coordinated and strategic weed management projects, initiatives, and research priorities to prevent and respond to new weed incursions, and to manage existing priority weed species affecting primary industries and natural ecosystems.

The successful applicant will have the opportunity to establish and maintain strategic relationships across industry, government, and the community, to support development and implementation of policies and programs.

Special Conditions

  • The successful applicant will be required to satisfactorily complete a National Police Check (NPC) prior to being made an offer of employment.
  • Australian residency or current work permit is required (responsibility of applicant to provide evidence of a current work permit.
  • Contract up to 20 October 2026.

Requirements

  • Possession of a current driver's licence and willingness to drive.
  • Out of hours work and inter/intrastate travel may be required.
  • You acknowledge your work, health and safety obligations and our expectations when applying for a role.
  • The incumbent will be required to undertake emergency management training and must be willing to participate in emergency preparedness, response and recovery activities required by government agencies.
  • Essential Qualifications: An appropriate Degree in Science, Natural Resource Management or equivalent.
  • Desirable Qualifications: Postgraduate qualifications are desirable.

Remuneration

PO3 - $101,285 min - $107,078 max per annum, plus superannuation.
