We work in partnership with local communities and other stakeholders to contribute to the land management, recreational and conservation outcomes across the protected areas. Targeted Vacancy

This is an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Identified role. This position sits within the Coastal and Islands Region of Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service and Partnerships and is responsible for delivering enhanced operational fire management outcomes for the department. This is a unique opportunity to be part of Coastal and Islands Region and to be part of the K'gari (Fraser Island) NRM Fire Management Team and be directly involved in the implementation of fire management activities on K'gari (Fraser Island).

About you

We're looking for individuals who are passionate about conservation, land management and working collaboratively in the fire space. Your planning skills will be key in juggling and meeting competing priorities, while your ability to motivate and influence your team will be the key to achieving outcomes in a busy and changing environment. To be successful in the role, you will also have:

  • Ability to manage a planning and evaluation program including associated Fire strategies.
  • On ground firefighting and fire management skills.
  • Ability to work autonomously and in small teams.
  • Strong communications skills and the ability to coordinate and facilitate workshops comprised of various stakeholder groups.
  • Ability to build sustainable relationships with key stakeholders of management planning, particularly with the First Nation community.
  • Strong problem solving and resolution skills.
  • High level writing and data presentation skills.
  • Mapping skills.
