We are a team of passionate environmental professionals committed to enhancing native vegetation and open spaces through sensitive weed control, revegetation, and consulting services.

To ensure the ongoing safety and well-being of our growing team, we are seeking an additional safety role: a dedicated Field Safety Officer who is passionate about workplace safety within this environmental context and enthusiastic about getting out to our crews to provide hands on advice and support. This role will play a vital part in Acacia’s team by providing support, guidance, ensuring best practices in health and safety, and fostering a culture of care and respect across our operations.

The Opportunity:

We are seeking a passionate Field Safety Officer to contribute to the development and implementation of Acacia’s Health and Safety Management System. The role is largely field based and will ensure our operations comply with health and safety regulations, business priorities, and best practices. Working closely with the leadership and safety teams, clients, and contractors, you will help identify and mitigate safety risks, develop policies, and deliver in-field training. Depending on the applicant's skill set and experience, this role may include Return to Work coordination.

You will have:

  • Experience in risk assessment, developing Safe Operating Procedures, and creating training materials. And/or Significant field experience in a role related to environmental management/landscaping/gardening etc.
  • A proven ability to enhance organisational safety culture and an ability to hold safety leadership conversations
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • A commitment to engaging with all team members and fostering trust.
  • A positive, proactive approach and a strong work ethic.
  • Ability to manage conflicting priorities and work independently

Plus the following skills are desirable:

  • Skills in incident investigation, root cause analysis, and providing recommendations.
  • Strong IT skills and familiarity with safety and learning management software.

Qualifications Required

  • Relevant hands-on experience in a Health and Safety environment or Environmental Management
  • Current Driver’s License – manual preferred.
  • White Card.
  • Cert. IV in Training and Assessment, Diploma of Safety, or other relevant qualifications are preferred.
  • Prior experience with safety software (e.g., Safety Champion) is desirable.
