About the role

The work undertaken by Western Conservation is varied, can be physically demanding, and is undertaken in the Perth metropolitan area, Bunbury Regional area, the Mid West, Gascoyne, and Pilbara regions. As a Conservation Field Technician, your role will be focused on the provision of weed control services across various locations around Perth.

Skills and experience

To be considered, you must:

  • Hold a current WA manual drivers licence (additional HC licence is favourable)
  • Hold a current WA Dept of Health issued Pesticide Technician Licence (or have completed the required training and are able to apply for the Licence)
  • Have experience in herbicide application techniques
  • Have completed, as a minimum, Certificate III in Conservation and Land Management
  • Be able to identify alien flora from Western Australian native flora
  • Have experience in operating manual 4WD utility
  • Be physically fit and motivated
  • Be an Australian resident entitled to work in Australia
  • Be reliable
  • Be willing to work

Your application will be further enhanced if you have:

  • Previous experience in Field Conservation work, including:
    • Hold a current MR, HC or HR licence
    • use of Brush cutter for the control of weeds
    • experience in fence construction and maintenance
    • experience and competency in undertaking vegetation condition and weed mapping using GPS
    • current WA Pesticide Technician licence, endorsed for Boom spray operations
    • completed training in the use of wood chippers
    • Be competent and experienced in the use and maintenance of chainsaws
