Our Planning (Illawarra) team is currently seeking to appoint a Senior Conservation Planning Officer.

In this role you will be part of a tight-knit team undertaking biodiversity assessment and co-ordination of complex projects and engage with stakeholders. Projects will include renewable energy proposals in the Illawarra Renewable Energy Zone, large-scale infrastructure projects including highway upgrades, residential land supply matters and biodiversity certification opportunities.

About You

  • Extensive experience in providing technical biodiversity advice on a broad range of development and landuse planning matters including policy guidance and implementation of the NSW Biodiversity Offsets Scheme.
  • Readiness to engage and collaborate with key stakeholders to achieve positive biodiversity management outcomes.
  • A top candidate would have Accredited Assessor status under the NSW Biodiversity Conservation Act (2016) and have experience in reviewing biodiversity development assessment reports and biodiversity certification matters.

Key knowledge and experience

  • Knowledge of and experience in the interpretation of legislation, and experience in dealing with environmental planning and assessment issues.
  • Experience in the assessment and analysis of strategic and complex conservation proposals.
