The Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water (DCCEEW) is currently seeking to appoint a Project Officer Floodplain Management to join the flood team within our Biodiversity and Conservation division. The successful applicant will be assisting the NSW community by improving flood risk management across the state.

In this role you will support the delivery of flood related technical and policy advice and projects, the development and management of flood related databases, and support regional staff to work with councils to enable high quality flood studies and flood risk management studies and plans to be delivered within reasonable timeframes.

About You

To be successful in this role, you must display:

  • Demonstrated knowledge of the processes for understanding and managing flood behaviour to reduce risks to the existing and growing community.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of spatial and aspatial databases and ability to proficiently use related software.
  • Experience in data collection, analysis and report writing.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of flood risk management policy and practice including relevant legislation, guidelines and policies.

Essential Requirements

  • Appropriate tertiary level qualifications.
  • Current Driver License – class C and willingness to travel.
