The Environmental Management Program aims to deliver the sustainable use, protection and management of natural and cultural resources in the Torres Strait Region.

This is achieved largely through the work of Rangers on country who work closely with Traditional owner and relevant PBCs.

Rangers work throughout their Islands land and sea country and are required to carry out strenuous outdoor activities on a regular basis.

Ranger is responsible to conduct physical outdoor works within the Cultural and Natural Resource Management on the island and other communities in the Torres Straits.

This includes cultural site maintenance, traditional ecological knowledge (TEK) recording, cultural awareness activities, management of introduced plants and animals, threatened species management, land and sea patrols.
