Prerequisites definitely required for this role (a must have)

  • Currently or very recently working in the weed control industry.
  • High level of management and supervision skills (this role will be for supervising and daily managing of work, whist also being hands on).
  • Currently licensed as a Pest Management Technician (Control Weeds).
  • Currently hold a ChemCert qualification.
  • Construction Induction Training 'White Card'.
  • Chainsaw Certified (this can be obtained latter), but need experience and confidence with the use of chainsaws, pole saws brush cutters etc.
  • Must have current unrestricted driver's license.
  • Experience and high confidence with four-wheel driving on rough terrain, with safety always paramount.
  • You need to possess the mentality of a “thinker” rather than a “doer”
  • Non smoker - smoking is not permitted in these sites in which we work.
  • Used to working long days outdoors in various different weather conditions.
  • Must speak good fluent and clear English and have excellent communication skills for any situation.
  • Able to liaise extremely well with customers using direct face to face communication.
  • Job will not suit someone with asthma, respiratory issues, Cardiovascular issues or severe allergies to flora. Any existing limb or back injuries will simply not work in this environment with some hard steep climbs required.

Additional Ideal Qualifications & experience for this role

  • Experienced and confidence with 4WD Quad bikes/ATV on steep grassy paddocks.
  • EWP (boom) Licensed would be great.
  • Experience with wood chippers.
  • Police check required.

Major Tasks & responsibilities of this role

Daily management and supervision of day-to-day workload/jobs.

  • In a team of 2 (you and 1 other), you will be in charge of achieving the day-to-day work set out for the week.
  • You will need to be able to sort out issues and any unforeseen circumstance as; or if they arise.
  • Strong quality in pre planning in order to achieve the results required.
  • Complete job reports on a daily basis (all done on mobile app at end of each job).
  • Reporting and liaising directly to the managing director on a daily basis as required.

Daily Tasks & responsibilities while supervising and managing

  • Provide quality control of annual winter weeds which entails boom spraying using either a Landcruiser 4WD fitted with a boom or a Polaris ACE 4WD ATV and boom sprayer, in pasture type paddocks, some of them steep and occasionally slippery.
  • Provide quality control of annual summer woody weeds using Quikspray remote controlled 200m long lines on foot, sometimes in rugged terrain and in dense scrub - you definitely need to be fit.
  • Pest tree control and cutting down wild pines using chainsaws and drilling equipment.
  • Summer slashing and brush cutting of paddocks and fire breaks.
  • Maintenance and repairs of general equipment plus sharpening chainsaw chains.
  • Working alone at times, must have mobile phone and will be required to use GPS location sharing for your own safety.
  • Looking for a genuine hard-working person who enjoys a good solid days' work out in the country environment. Someone who is happy to work a mix of long and short days to suit the jobs at hand with an average of 40 to 45 hours a week.
  • Some short stay away work is required twice a year with accommodation, travel and dinner meals provided.
  • This job will keep you fit and healthy with summer work being on foot most of the days, often climbing and descending some rough terrain in order to reach the pest weeds.
