About the role

We are looking for a Leading Hand with experience within the industry to assist with the implementation and co-ordination of projects.

The successful applicant will join a small professional team, and needs to be able to work with a level of autonomy whilst receiving minimal supervision.

You must be a leader, adaptable and self-motivated with good interpersonal and communication skills. You will have strong technical knowledge of local Melbourne flora, along with a desire to learn and an extremely high level of safety awareness.

A good level of physical fitness is essential as this position involves many aspects of manual handling.

Essential Criteria:

• Certificate 11 in Horticulture or Conservation and Land Management or relevant work experience
• At least 2 years experience in weed control and the use of spray equipment
• Chemical spraying certificate (Agvet, Chemcert or ACUP)
• Construction Industry White Card
• Current manual drivers licence and own car
• Ability to identify indigenous and exotic flora species
• Excellent understanding of OH&S principles
• Ability to liaise and communicate effectively with staff and clients
• Ability to successfully work in a team environment
• Strong work ethic with the ability to self-motivate

Preferred But Not Essential Criteria

• Chemical spraying certificate (Agvet, Chemcert or ACUP)
• Current First Aid training
• Demonstrated experience in the operation of chainsaws, mowers, brushcutters, knapsacks, spray rig
• Experience using boom equipment
• Experience in the repair and maintenance of spray equipment

Duties

• Weed control through manual and chemical application
• Pest animal control including rabbits and foxes
• Operation of boom equipment
• Repair and maintenance of spray equipment
• Hand weeding, mulching and brushcutting
• Plant installation and associated activities
• Completion of daily work records, chemical records and related project paperwork
• liaising with clients
