What You'll Do
Join our Horticulture Branch as Team Leader Landscape Systems and drive the management and development of the Landscape Systems team to support our mission at RBGV. In this role, you'll lead team operations to achieve high standards in environmental systems, horticulture, and public safety.
Key responsibilities include training and mentoring team members, ensuring best practices in environmental management, and overseeing vital systems like lake and wetland maintenance, irrigation, and biosecurity.
You'll collaborate with other branches, contribute to strategic planning initiatives, manage resources, and ensure regulatory compliance, all while fostering a positive, customer-focused culture. This role also offers the opportunity to enhance RBGV's reputation through public engagement, professional communication, and partnerships with educational institutions. What You'll Bring
The successful candidate will ideally have a background in Environmental Sciences or related fields, preferably with extensive hands-on experience in botanical horticulture management. This role involves leading and motivating a team of staff, volunteers, and students, managing contractors, and overseeing complex landscape systems operations.
Key qualifications include expertise in water conservation, ecological management of lake and wetland systems, environmental monitoring, and risk management. Strong planning, budgeting, and communication skills are essential, along with the ability to manage competing priorities effectively.
You should be adept at strategic thinking, with the initiative to work both independently and collaboratively. A Victorian driver's license is required, and flexibility for occasional weekend or after-hours work is expected
