About the position

The Plant Operator C&PM is required to ensure that staff; members of the public; and other stakeholders, remain safe while achieving the efficient delivery of the desired levels of service for firebreaks within the Toowoomba region. Primarily the incumbent is responsible for the operation of plant and equipment throughout the Toowoomba region. They may also be called upon to assist with other bushland park operations.

This position will work under limited supervision.

  • The base wage rate for this position is $1,129.62 gross per week, plus 17.5% annual leave loading and up to 12.65% superannuation.
  • This is a Permanent Full time position based at our Principal Depot in Charlton.

How to be successful in this position - Success Criteria

  1. Hold the mandatory qualification(s), training and/or experience, as outlined under the 'Success Criteria' in the Position Description (see below).
  2. A willingness to learn and undertake all aspects of bushland park maintenance.
  3. Demonstrated ability to operate as an effective member of a larger bushland management team in order to meet agreed performance and service standards. Including:
    • Ability to operate and maintain plant/machinery (consistent with qualifications held/required) to the principles of best practice and Council standards; and
    • Ability to understand directions and to communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders; and
    • Ability to complete and record daily works neatly and correctly whilst under remote supervision; and
    • Ability to work cooperatively in a team environment.
  4. Ability to undertake the work required to deliver outcomes and to perform intensive labouring duties on a daily basis and administration of agricultural chemicals.
  5. Understanding of and commitment to Council’s Organisational Value and Behaviour of Accountability.
