About us
Succession Ecology is a multi-faceted environmental business with four key areas of focus: ecological consulting, environmental research and development, landscape-scale restoration, and the production and sale of native seed. We focus on finding unique solutions in nature and we are passionate about applying ecological processes to achieve cost-effective outcomes for our clients. Our philosophy is, why engineer a solution when nature can do it better? We specialise in arid ecosystems and are passionate about developing new and innovative techniques to apply to ecosystem management.
Our 21-person strong company is intensively collaborative and value-driven. We trust our employees to make decisions to successfully deliver projects from start to finish and we offer them continual support to ensure they grow in their roles. We strongly focus on culture, values, team building, and business growth. Succession Ecology has been nationally recognised by winning the 2023 Telstra Best of Business, Promoting Sustainability Award for South Australia and the 2024 CORE Innovation Hot 30 Sustainability Innovation Award.
Our Ecology Team specialises in the large-scale management and restoration of arid systems. Ecology projects include the assessment of the ecological impacts of industrial developments, and strategies to avoid, minimise and offset those impacts. Our Research & Development/Restoration Team focuses on innovative techniques to monitor, manage and restore natural ecosystems. In those projects we apply scientific methods and data analysis to optimise ecosystem management and restoration. Our teams spend considerable amount of time writing reports, such as EPBC Self-assessments and EPBC referrals, and management plans on threatened species, coastal protection, weed control, and many other topics. Team members must be able to prioritise tasks, provide fast turn-around times for reports, and should expect frequent travel for field work.
Succession Ecology is rapidly expanding our passionate, diverse and value-driven team. We are recruiting at three levels, all of which include fieldwork:
Graduate Ecologists build their capacities through a two-year in-house training program, in which they support consulting projects to achieve key ecological outcomes. In the second year of their training, they lead appropriately sized projects and contribute to complex projects.
Ecologists develop and lead consulting projects to achieve key ecological outcomes. They are a core part of the passionate and diverse team committed to Succession Ecology’s values. They lead multiple projects and share their skills through mentoring Graduate Ecologists/Graduate Scientists.
Senior Ecologists develop and lead complex consulting projects to achieve key ecological outcomes. They write quotes for detailed projects and manage the personnel and budgets of multiple projects. They mentor and supervise Ecologists/Scientists and Graduate
Ecologists/Graduate Scientists, building a passionate and diverse team committed to Succession Ecology’s values.
