We are the leading provider of ecological services to the wind energy industry and primarily work throughout Australia’s eastern states. We specialise in pre-construction ecological impact assessments, identifying relevant issues, implementing appropriate monitoring, and creating workable alternatives to avoid, minimise and mitigate impacts on flora and fauna, including  bird and bats. We design and deliver field services, prepare technical reports and assist clients through the regulatory process. We also have expertise in post-construction monitoring, implementing routine surveys, responding to impacts upon threatened species and undertaking targeted surveys. The renewable energy industry is a rapidly growing sector in Australia where we as environmental consultants, can have a major influence by informing key environmental decisions based on scientific data during the planning phase of a development. In addition to onshore renewable energy, we had a strong team to embark on the offshore wind energy voyage.

With our increasing workload ecological services to the wind energy industry, we are seeking a qualified and experienced Senior Advisor / Project Manager to contribute to our growing practice.  The successful candidate will design and coordinate ecological field studies throughout Victoria or other states to assess sites considered for wind and renewable energy projects. In your role you would also provide advice in the development of layout and other measures to mitigate the impact of these developments. There is potential to lead and contribute to our growing offshore wind studies.

The role will include:

  • Lead and coordinate wind energy facilities ecological assessments in Victoria, Tasmania, and South Australia;
  • Data management, data interpretation and reporting;
  • Preparation and review of reports to inform the approval process for developments through local, state and federal government instrumentalities.
  • Providing high level advice to clients on ecological matters

The ideal candidate for this position will have:

  • Tertiary qualifications in disciplines related to ecology;
  • Ornithology experience and / or knowledge
  • Comprehensive fieldwork experience;
  • Minimum 6 years’ experience in an ecological consulting role or similar;
  • Strong ecological data and interpretation experience;
  • High quality reporting skills;
  • Ability to work well independently, as well as within a team.

The role is a permanent position within Nature Advisory. We will tailor the role to suit the right candidate.
