This position will be the Ranger Supervisor of a ranger team with the Gurambilbarra Town Common Wetlands Project overseen by QPWS for their daily work program and coordinated by NQ Dry Tropics to conduct onground works for the project on Town Common Conservation Park.
This position will work with and assist the Townsville Town Common QPWS Ranger team on all aspects of Land and Sea Management, including conducting management weeds and fire, waterways, species surveys, and under the guidance of the Gurambilbarra Wetlands Project Advisory Group record Traditional knowledge and monitor culturally significant sites. The Rangers' work will include a high level of field work and will also include liaison/consultation with NQ Dry Tropics project team, government representatives (QPWS), park visitors, schools and local community groups, other project partners including Tropwater and Birdlife.
The role will receive project specific training which will be provided on and off park and will gain experience in the duties of QPWS rangers including performing park patrols and answering public enquiries; and performing any other duties as requested by the Senior Ranger and Townsville Town Common QPWS Ranger In Charge. The successful candidate will be required to respect Traditional Owner protocols whilst working on any projects on both land and sea Country.
