The Position

To work within the Wagirra Team to assist in the restoration and maintenance of parks, natural areas, landscapes and land management projects associated with the Murray River Experience, AlburyCity new initiatives and participate in external land management projects.

  • Working 38 hours per week with a fortnightly RDO

AlburyCity Traineeship Criteria:

To be considered eligible for this position:

  • An applicant must not have 50% or more of the identified qualification or a similar or a higher industry qualification completed.
  • The recruitment of an AlburyCity Trainee is based on the assumption of no/limited industry skills or knowledge and is not based on age.

Qualifications & experience

  • Completion of Year 10 School Certificate or equivalent
  • Class C (standard) Driver's Licence, Provisional Licence (compulsory to have and maintain)
  • Statutory Declaration or Certificate confirming Aboriginality
  • General interest in conservation and land management and horticulture
  • General interest in Aboriginal cultural heritage matters

Tasks & responsibilities

Under direction assist in the following:

  • Restoration and construction of landscapes associated with the Murray River Experience and external conservation and land management works.
  • Maintenance of the Albury parks, reserves, natural areas and landscapes associated with the Natural Areas portfolio.
  • Maintenance and planting of trees.
  • Provide advice to the public, visitors in a polite and effective manner.
  • Use all plant and equipment in a safe and competent manner.

Hours

Based on a 38 hour week, with actual days and times being Monday to Friday 7am to 4pm, with an RDO in accordance with AlburyCity's RDO guidelines.
