About the role

As Conservation Management Officer you will be part of the Land management and Natural Areas Planning Team and responsible for the coordination and on-ground delivery of conservation management programs, actions, and monitoring activities across Ipswich City Council’s natural area network.

Some of your key responsibilities will include

  • Provide technical input into the development of the Conservation Works Program
  • Plan and coordinate the on-ground delivery of conservation management operational and capital projects
  • Undertake on-ground monitoring activities to support the conservation planning and works programs 
  • Assist in the implementation of the natural area network maintenance service standards, including regular reviews and validation of the standards
  • Liaise with local and state governments and relevant non-government networks to enhance Council’s natural area management plans, programs, procedures, policies and guidelines 

About you

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Environmental Science/Management or similar
  • Relevant professional qualifications and/or substantial equivalent experience working with contractors to identify and deliver contemporary natural area management solutions
  • Experience in financial management, project programming and financial management
  • High-level knowledge of the principles of conservation and natural area management
  • Current C class driver's licence
  • Belief in our values of communication, collaboration, integrity, efficiency, and leadership

This position will require a pre-employment medical (Including drug and alcohol testing) and Q Fever vaccination.
