A bit about the role

You will lead the planning and execution of operational tasks within the Council’s Bushland Program, ensuring alignment with best practices in conservation and land management.

This role will oversee and coordinate the efforts of both the Bushland Crew and external contractors, driving high-quality outcomes in the management of bushland, revegetation projects, and water-sensitive design initiatives.

You will provide conservation and land management advice while delivering excellent customer service. Help maintain and improve the City of Casey’s bushland and natural areas for the benefit of current and future generations.

What you’ll deliver

  • Provide advice and support to the Coordinator Bushland on conservation actions, contractor compliance, OH&S, and performance issues.
  • Assist in developing the annual works program, including reports and documentation of completed tasks.
  • Organise and supervise the Council’s Bushland Crew for maintenance and resource management.
  • Ensure timely and safe implementation of policies, procedures, and work instructions.
  • Oversee and advise site contractors to ensure safe work practices and meet specified outcomes.
  • Conduct inspections and quality/OHS audits as required
  • Assist in maintaining relevant data management systems for the Council.
  • Represent the Council at official functions, meetings, and seminars, promoting a positive public image.
  • Stay updated on developments, legislation, and regulations relevant to the role.

What you’ll bring

  • A tertiary qualification of AQF level 5 or above in Conservation Land Management or related discipline, or relevant experience.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience working in natural resource management including use of a broad range of plant and equipment.
  • Excellent computer skills and proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office suite and other data management systems
  • Strong leadership and communication skills are essential for effectively guiding the team and fostering a culture of environmental stewardship within Casey.
  • Current AgVet Chemical Users Certificate is desirable.
  • Current Certificate in First Aid is desirable.
  • Willingness to undergo pre-employment background checks including National Criminal History Check, Working with Children Check, Eligibility to Work check and, Functional Assessment (Medical/physio)
