Nature Advisory Pty Ltd is an employee-owned specialist consulting ecological company, providing expert advice, field services, and reporting to organisations, governments and private clients on a range of ecosystem monitoring and management projects. We specialise in development impact assessments and seek to ensure environmental impacts from these projects are minimised. This allows us to make a positive contribution to conserving environmental values while supporting the growth of the renewable energy sector. As an environmental firm, it’s also important to us that the impact of our own operations are considered and we are carbon neutral. We are headquartered in Hawthorn East and have staff operating from locations across Victoria, ACT, NSW, Queensland and Tasmania. We work on projects throughout Australia. We offer attractive and highly flexible work arrangements.

Our growing team has an exciting vacancy for a Senior Ecological Consultant. The successful candidate will have experience undertaking ecological investigations and/or planning for nature positive outcomes, proven management abilities, experience in monitoring or impact assessment projects and skills in, or transferrable to, consulting. The position involves:

  • Planning and implementing ecological assessments;
  • Understanding environmental legislation and policy applicable in Victoria;
  • Providing advice to clients;
  • Guiding a team of committed ecologists;
  • Building and maintaining all aspects of client relationships;
  • Contributing to achieving nature positive outcomes;
  • Sharing your passion and knowledge of nature with a diverse team; and
  • Contributing to our strategic direction, management, and culture.

The position provides an excellent opportunity for a professional ecologist or planner with relevant experience who has a energetic and service-focussed approach to excellent project delivery. You will be joining an experienced and supportive team committed to a high standard of technical work and client service. You will be contributing to the management and growth of an almost 25-year-old, employee-owned business employing almost 80 staff.

Candidates must have graduate or post-graduate qualifications in ecology, environmental planning or a related field. A sound knowledge of biodiversity in Victoria, biodiversity related legislation and policies and well-developed communication skills are essential. A track record in managing ecological or planning projects would be useful. A current driver’s license is required.

The position attracts a competitive salary, generous 5-week annual leave entitlements, provision for unpaid leave, a focus on professional development, the opportunity to be paid while doing volunteer work for a conservation project and, over time, the opportunity to become a shareholder in the company. We offer flexible work arrangements and an Employee Assistance Package.
