OUR STORY

The Central Land Council (CLC) is a corporate Commonwealth entity established under the Aboriginal Land Rights (Northern Territory) Act 1976. The CLC represents traditional landowners, native title holders and other Aboriginal people in the southern half of the Northern Territory—an area of almost 780,000 square kilometres. 

The CLC provides its constituents with advice, advocacy and practical assistance to support their aspirations, manage their land and realise and protect their rights.

National Parks in Central Australia are unique in that the majority are owned by Traditional Owners and leased back to the government. These leases provide a strong foundation for effective joint management between Traditional Owners, the Parks authorities, as well as outlining Central Land Council’s (CLC) statutory responsibilities.

This role works closely with Traditional Owners and parks authorities to ensure the principles and objectives of joint management are being upheld. This includes recognising, valuing and incorporating Aboriginal culture, knowledge and decision making processes and utilising the combined land management skills and expertise of both joint management partners.

As a joint management coordinator, you will manage a team of joint management officers to establish close working relationships with Traditional Owners in order to understand their ongoing aspirations for the joint management of their land and facilitate meetings in some of the most beautiful and culturally significant locations in Central Australia. You will maintain high-level relationships with parks authorities to represent traditional owners at a senior level and improve joint management outcomes.

Total effective package includes: base salary, district allowance, superannuation, leave loading, relocation assistance, annual airfare allowance and salary packaging options. Annual progression within the salary scale is subject to satisfactory performance. Progression is in accordance with annual increments set out in an enterprise agreement.
