Midway Limited is seeking a dynamic and experienced individual to join our team as a Harvest Supervisor. In this role, you will play a vital part in our operational delivery, ensuring a reliable and consistent service across our plantation sites based primarily in the Otway’s, Heytesbury and Ballarat regions.

Role Overview

As a Harvest Supervisor, you will work closely with the Harvest Coordinator to deliver harvest and roading tactical plans. Your responsibilities include planning for harvest and road construction, preparing Timber Harvest Plans (THPs), inducting and supervising contractors, and actively participating in safety, environmental, and certification audits. You will maintain a strong focus on operational scheduling, liaise with internal stakeholders, and actively contribute to fostering a positive work culture for staff and contractors.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in planning and design harvesting and road construction activities, ensuring safe operations and minimal environmental impact.
  • Prepare Timber Harvest Plans (THPs) and submit them to local councils within prescribed timelines.
  • Induct roading and harvesting contractors, incorporating their inputs into planning designs.
  • Actively supervise harvesting operations and harvest crews.
  • Actively record and investigate hazards and incidents, ensuring immediate or timely actions for resolution.
  • Participate in safety, environment, and production audits, contributing to corrective actions as necessary.
  • Assist with roading budgets, identifying maintenance requirements and requesting necessary resources.
  • Assist with fire control activities under the direction of the Plantation Manager.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Relevant management experience in forestry/agriculture context, demonstrating effective operation of management systems, audit, risk assessment, legislative compliance, and incident reporting.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, along with strong negotiation abilities.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team, influence, negotiate, and cooperate effectively.
  • Strong time management and analytical skills.
  • Proven ability to maintain a positive work culture and foster respectful relationships with contractors and colleagues.
