About the Role

As the GIS Officer, you will play a key role in the Geographical Information System (GIS) team. This role will involve providing essential project and technical support in the design, implementation, and ongoing expansion of the GIS. This includes supporting the maintenance and upgrades of the GIS platform, undertaking spatial and data analysis, and contributing to the long-term strategic implementation of new features and functionality for the GIS platform.

Responsibilities of the Role 

  • Administer an established, web-based (hosted) GIS with up to 40 users
  • Capture and make data available to a range of reserve, cultural heritage, wildlife, research, land and asset management systems and processes.
  • Provide technical support in the management, design and development of GIS infrastructure to support the use of web, desktop and mobile GIS applications. This includes the administration of the web-based application (ESRI) and all users.
  • Deliver special data presentation and reporting in the form of data insights, maps and other relevant reporting formats.
  • Support the design, development and documentation of GIS processes, to ensure compliance by Nature Parks employees and external stakeholders.
  • Continued commitment to engage with Nature Parks employees in the training, guidance and adoption of the GIS software suite of products and geospatial approaches.
  • Provide technical advice to teams to ensure the adequate use and capture of spatial data during project delivery.

To commence your journey with us, the following is required:

  • Degree or postgraduate qualification in Environmental or Spatial Science related discipline with experience in 
    Spatial Science, GIS, surveying or land information.
  • Working with Children Check
