Are you committed to natural resource management and making a positive difference to the environment and regional communities?

This is a national, part-time role for someone who has significant drive and initiative, and has well developed communication skills. The purpose of the role is to facilitate knowledge transfer, innovation and capacity building in the delivery of nature-based solutions for disaster risk reduction and climate adaptation across Australia’s NRM sector. This position will support the Nature-based Solutions Lead to deliver the capacity development and knowledge brokering components of the Nature-led Resilience project.

About you:

To be successful in this role you will have:

Specialist Knowledge and Skills

  • Broad understanding of climate and disaster risk, landscape resilience and nature-based solutions.
  • Familiarity with the policy and funding environment for nature-based solutions.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of NRM and NRM networks. Prior NRM experience is highly advantageous.
  • Tertiary qualifications in Natural Resource Management, Environment, Social Science, Engineering or Project Management or equivalent experience in a similar role.
  • Sound understanding of the not-for-profit sector and knowledge of government funding models.

Strategic Thinking and Initiative

  • Motivated, strategic thinker.
  • Ability to take initiative and work independently.

Knowledge Exchange and Communication

  • General understanding of co-design processes particularly as they relate to the project.
  • General understanding of, and experience in, knowledge exchange (e.g., generation, synthesis, product development, dissemination, exchange, management, evaluation) and communication (e.g., on-line, education/training, toolkit development).
  • Ability to develop knowledge products such as case studies, toolkits, newsletters and policy briefs using feedback from knowledge users.

Stakeholder Engagement and Partnership Building

  • Capacity to coordinate and facilitate engagement processes.
  • Experience working with a variety of stakeholders at multiple levels to develop relationships and achieve shared goals.
  • Superior written, editorial, and verbal communication skills.
  • Adaptability, flexibility, diplomacy and tact.

Organisational Skills

  • Excellent planning and time management skills, with ability to multi‐task, coordinate projects with tight deadlines, and work flexibly as a member of a small team.
  • Experience with various software (word processing, spreadsheets, databases) and on-line platforms policy

Additional Factors

  • Must be eligible to work in Australia (you are an Australian citizen or a permanent resident of Australia or New Zealand or have a valid visa that provides work rights).
  • Ability to undertake occasional travel and nights away from home base to attend meetings.
  • Perform all duties in accordance with NRM Regions Australia's Policies and Procedures and code of conduct.

NRM Regions Australia is the national peak body for our 54 regional NRM organisations. These organisations work across the whole continent with communities, land managers and farmers, governments and other partners to regenerate and sustain Australia’s biodiversity and productive landscapes, providing an essential service for all Australians.

NRM Regions Australia is a small organisation with a remote team who work from locations across Australia. The CEO, Dr Kate Andrews, is based within two hours of Canberra, and in person staff meetings are held at regular intervals in Canberra. Besides the full time CEO, there are currently two full-time and five part-time staff supported by various contractors.
