MJD Environmental is a growing multi-disciplinary environmental consultancy servicing the Land Development and Conseravtion sectors. We are situated in Newcastle and have projects across NSW.

Due to high demand we have multiple positions to fill suited to Field Ecologists (Casual), Ecologist and Senior Ecologist candidates. We will be considering full time, part time and casual arrangements for the right candidates. You tell us what, when, where and how work would suit you at your career and life stage. 

If you are a Principal level candidate we would also be keen to hear from you and would also be happy to consider other NSW locations for you.

In this position, you will be working within the team on a variety of projects in the fields of ecology, restoration ecology, environmental management, biodiversity impact and offset assessment as well as bushfire planning and assessment. The successful candidates will be enthusiastic individuals with a strong desire to grow within the company who can demonstrate the following:

Field Ecologist 

  • Tertiary qualifications in environmental science / ecology or similar.
  • Familiarisation with GIS/ GPS and use of technology in field and office settings.
  • Current unrestricted drivers licence.
  • Willingness and ability to work flexible hours and travel for short periods.
  • A strong work ethic.
  • Ability to work in the field, up ladders, carrying equipment.  

Ecologist to Senior 

  • Tertiary qualifications in environmental science / ecology or similar.
  • Please tell us your experience commensurate with the role(s) you are applying for.
  • NSW BAM Accreditation and experience highly regarded but not essential.
  • Understanding and application of guiding local, state and commonwealth legislation and policy.
  • Experience in preparation of a range of reports/ formats including ecological impact assessments, management plans, monitoring and compliance, application of the BAM.
  • Demonstrated time and budget management skills.
  • Familiarisation with GIS/ GPS and use of technology in field and office settings.
  • Current unrestricted drivers licence.
  • Advanced computer literacy with the Microsoft Office suite.
  • Willingness and ability to work flexible hours and travel for short periods.
  • A strong work ethic.
  • Bushfire planning and assessment experience highly regarded but not essential.
