The Opportunity

We have an opportunity for two Biosecurity Officers to be part of our Biosecurity Division within the Department of Primary Industries and Regions. 

The primary purpose of the Biosecurity Officer roles is to carry out biosecurity inspection activities and to engage with and educate travellers to Kangaroo Island. The Biosecurity Officers are responsible for coordinating and undertaking field-based biosecurity surveillance to manage risks to Kangaroo Island posed by animal and plant pests and diseases. 

The role contributes to delivering the agency's priorities including assisting the protection of Kangaroo Island's primary industries and environment.

Special Conditions 

  • Successful applicant will be required to satisfactorily complete a National Police Check (NPC) prior to being made an offer of employment.

Requirements 

  • Possession of a current driver's license and willingness to drive
  • Out of hours work and inter / intrastate travel may be required.

  • You acknowledge your work, health and safety obligations and our expectations when applying for a role.
  • The incumbent will be required to undertake emergency management training and must be willing to participate in emergency preparedness, response and recovery activities required by government agencies.

Remuneration 

OPS4 - $48.92 min – $51.28 max per hour
