Clarence City Council, in Southern Tasmania, is transforming with our community and our workforce is growing and evolving. We’re seeking a capable and enthusiastic Bushfire Mitigation Planning Officer to develop, coordinate and implement the Clarence Bushfire Mitigation Framework, including the Bushfire Policy, Bushfire Mitigation Strategy, and the reserve Bushfire Mitigation Plans to effectively manage bushfire risk in Clarence.

Reporting to the Team Leader Environment and Biodiversity, this exciting and dynamic role offers a fantastic variety of field and office-based work, liaising closely with relevant stakeholders to identify and prioritise mitigation activities within designated Clarence Council reserves, while complying with relevant legislation including the Fire Service Act 1979.

ABOUT YOU

  • Degree/Diploma in Natural Resource Management, Bushfire Management, Environmental Science, Environmental Management or related field, or relevant industry experience.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of emergency management and bushfire risk management, including an understanding of the role of landholders and agencies in the management of bushfire risk.
  • Capability to undertake bushfire hazard, risk and treatment assessments.
  • Demonstrated practical experience in developing strategic plans for the implementation of a range of bushfire hazard reduction and land management activities to achieve prescribed outcomes in a timely manner and within budget.
  • Demonstrated experience in applying bushfire mitigation strategies that sustain the natural environment by maintaining conservation values and biodiversity.

WHAT WE OFFER YOU

The role is ongoing and full-time. A base salary between $89,760.55 and $99,774.18 will be negotiated (dependent on skills and experience) with the preferred candidate + 12.5% superannuation and a 19-day month.
