At the Central Tablelands Local Landcare, we are dedicated to fostering community engagement and environmental stewardship across the dynamic landscapes of Orange, Bathurst, Blayney, and Molong. Our local network works together with local Landcare groups and volunteers to support sustainable natural resource management, agricultural practices, and community resilience.
This role can be full-time (35 hours per week) or two part-time positions (17.5 hours per week each), with opportunities to work on exciting local environmental and agricultural projects.
Position Objective
The Local Coordinator is responsible for the management and coordination of local community volunteer Landcare groups. Local Coordinators will work with their host organisation and the Landcare groups and organisations of their area to support and empower them to achieve their own goals, to participate in Landcare, partner with Local Land Services and to deliver on the target outcomes of the LP3 - NSW Landcare Program.
Supported by, and working directly with, their hosts, Local Coordinators will directly interact with Landcare and agencies at the local district and network scale. They will focus on empowering participation in Landcare by individuals and groups, to increase the capacity of these groups, to deliver against the target outcomes of the LP3 - NSW Landcare Program.
Local Coordinators will be expected to collaborate with a range of Landcare support mechanisms including other Local Coordinators, Regional Coordinators, Regional Admin Support Officers, Landcare Committees, Local Government and Local Land Services.
Where the Coordinator is part-time, additional hours for project management may be undertaken by the same person where these hours are funded by the project/s or other partners.
Key Responsibilities of the Role:
Community Liaison and Engagement:
Act as a central contact point for the local Landcare group, encouraging community participation in biodiversity and sustainability projects.
Project and Volunteer Management:
Support natural resource management projects and coordinate volunteer efforts to address key environmental issues such as soil health and biodiversity enhancement.
Communication and Networking:
Implement communication strategies, including newsletters and social media campaigns, to grow the Landcare membership and raise awareness of ongoing initiatives.
Grant and Fundraising Support:
Identify and submit grant applications, and assist with fundraising activities to secure resources for local projects that support biodiversity, regenerative agriculture, and community engagement.
Administrative Support:
Manage essential administrative tasks, such as database management, member communications, and general support to the Landcare group and its projects.
