We’re looking for an experienced Aquatic Ecologist with a passion and expertise in freshwater ecosystems. You’ll join our growing Aquatic Ecology practice and play an important role in the delivery of a variety of aquatic project and shaping the strategic direction of our aquatic ecology solutions.

We offer flexibility that works for you and hybrid working options that mean this role could be based at any of the following locations: Brisbane, Sydney or Newcastle.

Here’s what you can expect and count on in your new role as an Aquatic Ecologist with EMM:

  • You’ll be part of a highly experienced, passionate and close-knit Ecology community, who love to collaborate, sharing knowledge and ideas that spark innovation 
  • Your work will see you developing your technical expertise, project management and skills to lead a variety of aquatic projects across multiple sectors and help shape good outcomes
  • You’ll play a key role in coordinating, supporting or leading fieldwork, including the delivery of ecology impact assessments and groundwater dependent eco assessments
  • You’ll have access to the latest GIS technology and a team of talented spatial solutions experts
  • You’ll contribute to the development of our Aquatic practice and client relationships  
  • You’ll work with leaders who are truly present and excited to help you to grow
  • The autonomy and flexibility to work the way that works best for you and the support you need to balance your interests and priorities beyond work
  • This is hybrid position that would combine home working with team collaboration days at either our Brisbane, Sydney or Newcastle office
  • The role will require field work across the State

Here’s what you’ll bring:

  • A minimum of 3 years post graduate experience, preferably gained within an ecological consultancy environment
  • You’ll have a good kknowledge of legislator frameworks for aquatic ecology and practical experience in freshwater fieldwork, AUSRIVERS assessments, water quality sampling and analysis and aquatic flora and fauna identification
  • Ideally you’ll have some experience in using ArcGIS  
  • The ability to research, prepare documentation and draw conclusions to support recommendations for review
  • A degree in ecology or a related discipline
  • Highly developed written and oral communication skills
  • The ability to manage multiple projects effectively
  • Great relationship skills including the ability to liaise with the team, clients and all relevant stakeholders
  • Have a current/valid unrestricted QLD or NSW driver's license
